Apply for a Grant

The Community Foundation makes grants available to nonprofit organizations located in Baldwin, Clarke, Conecuh, Choctaw, Escambia, Mobile, Monroe and Washington counties of South Alabama.

Grants are awarded to qualified, public 501(c)(3) charities. Municipal governments, public schools, and some religious organizations are also considered charitable organizations.

The Community Foundation of South Alabama will accept grant proposals from these agencies if they are recognized by the IRS as a public charity, public school, religious organization or governmental entity.

"Request For Proposals" will be issued by the Foundation to announce when funding is available.

Grants are awarded through a competitive grant-making process to charitable organizations with the best projects and programs.

The Grants Committee of the Foundation reviews the applications and submits summaries and recommendations to the Board of Directors. Final approval of grant requests are made by the Board of Directors.

Nonprofit organizations that receive grant funding will be required to provide reports outlined in the grant agreement. The Community Foundation staff will make periodic site visits to ensure funding is being used appropriately.
