G. Porter Brock Jr.
President, The Community Foundation of South Alabama, 2007-08
Porter is a member of the law firm
of Hand Arendall, L.L.C., practicing in the areas of estate
planning, tax, probate,
and corporate law. He has a B.S. from Auburn University (1959),
a J.D. from the University of Alabama (1963), and an L.L.M.
in taxation from New York University (1964). He is a Fellow
of both the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel
and the American College of Tax Counsel and is listed in
the book “The Best Lawyers in America” in both
the Tax and the Trusts and Estates categories. He is a past
chairman of the Tax Section of the Alabama Bar.
Porter has demonstrated his community support by serving
on the Board of Directors of the Child Day Care Association,
a member of the Advisory Board of Contact Mobile and Past
President of the Mobile Lions Club. He was instrumental in
forming The Community Foundation of South Alabama (then The
Mobile Community Foundation) in 1975, having drafted its
Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws and has for years volunteered
as legal counsel for it.

and force for philanthropy for both charitable organizations
and donors in its eight county service area through the establishment
and growth of permanent charitable endowments. “I invite
