G. Porter Brock Jr.
President, The Community Foundation of South Alabama, 2007-08

Porter is a member of the law firm of Hand Arendall, L.L.C., practicing in the areas of estate planning, tax, probate, and corporate law. He has a B.S. from Auburn University (1959), a J.D. from the University of Alabama (1963), and an L.L.M. in taxation from New York University (1964). He is a Fellow of both the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel and the American College of Tax Counsel and is listed in the book “The Best Lawyers in America” in both the Tax and the Trusts and Estates categories. He is a past chairman of the Tax Section of the Alabama Bar.

Porter has demonstrated his community support by serving on the Board of Directors of the Child Day Care Association, a member of the Advisory Board of Contact Mobile and Past President of the Mobile Lions Club. He was instrumental in forming The Community Foundation of South Alabama (then The Mobile Community Foundation) in 1975, having drafted its Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws and has for years volunteered as legal counsel for it.

Porter is committed to seeing the Community Foundation of South Alabama become publicly recognized as the leading resource and force for philanthropy for both charitable organizations and donors in its eight county service area through the establishment and growth of permanent charitable endowments. “I invite you,” says Porter, “to become a partner in this fulfilling endeavor in making South Alabama a great place to live for generations to come.”
